(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시 송도컨벤시아에서 오는 8월 13일부터 14일까지 미래 과학 로봇인재 육성의 장인 ‘2022 월드로봇 올림피아드 한국대회’가 개최된다.

인천시가 후원하고 사단법인 그린휴먼IT협회가 주최하는 이번 대회는 4개 종목, 초·중·고등부 212팀, 참가인원 454명 등 총 1천여 명이 참여할 예정이며, 종목별 우승자에게는 오는 11월 독일 도르트문트(Dortmund)에서 개최되는 세계대회에 한국대표로 참가할 수 있는 자격이 주어진다.

‘월드로봇 올림피아드 세계대회(WRO)’ 120여개 국가 3만여 명의 청소년이 참가하는 세계 최대의 청소년 로봇 경진대회다.

올해 19회째 개최되는 이번 한국대회는 2017년부터 인천에서 개최돼 왔으며, 2~4명으로 구성된 팀들이 부여된 과제를 수행할 로봇을 얼마나 창의적이고 혁신적으로 만드는 지가 관전 포인트다.
 

김경아 시 문화관광체육국장은 “월드로봇올림피아드 한국대회는 대한민국 미래 과학 및 로봇인재 육성을 목적으로 마련된 청소년 문화 축제”라며 “인천 전략산업의 하나인 로봇산업을 마이스산업과 연계하여 세계적 첨단 로봇산업 거점 도시로서 역할을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The ‘2022 World Robot Olympiad Korea Competition’ will be held from August 13 to 14 at Songdo Convensia, Incheon, a place to foster future science robot talent.

Sponsored by Incheon City and hosted by the Green Human IT Association, this competition is expected to have a total of 1,000 participants, including 4 events, 212 teams from elementary, middle and high schools, and 454 participants. ‘World Robot Olympiad World Championship (WRO)’ is the world’s largest youth robot competition, in which 30,000 youths from 120 countries participate.
