(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천대학교 총장추천위원회(위원장 이호상 일본지역문화학과 교수)가 지난 11월 7일부터 11월 29일까지 진행한 총장후보자 모집 결과 4명이 지원했다고 밝히며, 지난 2일 총장후보대상자 확정을 위한 총장후보지원자 4명을 대상으로 추첨을 통해 기호를 확정했다고 밝혔다.

인천대학교에 따르면, 이날 추첨에 따라 기호 1번 최병길(인천대 도시환경공학부 교수), 기호 2번 강현철(인천대학교 명예교수), 기호 3번 이인재(인천대 경제학과 교수), 기호 4번 임경환(인천대 생명과학부 교수) 순으로 결정됐다.

앞으로 총장예비후보자를 선정하고 이에 대한 검증과 합동연설회 및 정책토론회를 거쳐 정책평가(투표)를 통해 3명의 후보자를 선발하여 이사회에 추천할 예정이다.

이사회에서는 최종 1명의 후보자를 선임하여 교육부로 추천하면 교육부 장관의 제청을 거쳐 대통령이 최종 임명한다.
