(브레이크뉴스인언 박상도 기자) 부천시가 3일, 환경부 주관 ‘2024년 공공하수처리시설 운영·관리 실태점검’에서 우수기관으로 선정돼 환경부장관 표창과 1천만 원의 포상금을 수상했다고 밝혔다. 

부천시에 따르면, 시는 이번 성과를 통해 6년 연속 공공하수도 운영·관리 우수기관이라는 명성을 이어갔다.

이번 평가는 2023년 성과를 기준으로 전국 161개 공공하수도 관리청을 대상으로 진행됐다. 

평가 항목은 하수도 침수 및 안전사고 예방 대응능력 등 총 5개 분야이며, 1차 서류평가와 2차 심의위원회 발표평가로 이뤄졌다. 

부천시는 1그룹(총인구 30만 명 이상 공공하수도 관리청)에서 우수한 점수를 받아 우수기관으로 선정됐다.

부천시는 특히 슬러지소각시설의 연료를 바이오가스로 대체하고, 바이오가스와 태양광 등 신재생에너지를 적극 활용해 에너지 자립률을 평균 30% 이상 달성하는 성과를 보였다. 

또한, 높은 처리효율로 방류수질을 법적 기준보다 낮은 수준으로 관리하는 등 체계적이고 효율적인 공공하수도 운영관리를 위해 노력하고 있다.

2019년부터 매년 ‘우수’ 또는 ‘최우수’ 등급을 받아온 부천시는 올해까지 6년 연속으로 우수한 공공하수도 운영 역량을 인정받았다. 

시상식은 지난 11월 28일 전라남도 여수에서 있었던 2024년 하수도 연찬회에서 진행됐으며 환경부장관 표창과 함께 포상금을 받았다.
