(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천도시철도망구축계획이 국토부로부터 최종 승인을 받아 본격 추진이 가능해졌다.

인천시의 부평연안부두선 등 8개 노선이 반영된 ‘인천시 도시철도망 구축계획 변경(안)’이 국가교통위원회의 심의를 거쳐 18일 국토교통부로부터 승인을 받았다.

이번 도시철도망 구축계획 변경에 반영된 노선이 모두 건설되면 도시철도 수송 분담률 증가로 주민들의 교통편의가 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다. 

변경계획에 반영된 노선은 인천2호선 검단 연장, 부평연안부두선, 송도트램, 인천2호선 논현 연장, 주안송도선, 영종트램, 인천1호선 송도8공구 연장, 제물포연안부두선 등 8개 노선으로 총 87.79㎞ 길이의 철도망 건설에 2조 8,620억 원의 사업비가 투입될 계획이다.

이번 변경계획은 2016년에 수립된 기존계획에 대해 ‘도시철도법’제5조에 따라 5년마다 시행하는 타당성 재검토 결과를 반영한 것으로, 변화된 사회․경제적 여건을 반영하고 수도권광역급행철도(GTX) B노선 수혜 확대, 원도심 도시 재생 지원에 중점을 두고 있다.

2020년 12월 국토교통부에 승인을 신청한 후, 한국철도기술연구원 등 전문 연구기관의 적정성 검토, 관계 행정기관 협의, 도시교통정책 실무위원회 조정․검토 및 국가교통위원회 심의를 거쳐 승인됐다.

8개 노선 중 인천2호선 검단 연장, 부평연안부두선, 송도트램 등 3개 노선은 연내 예비타당성조사 신청을 위해 사전타당성조사 용역을 추진할 계획이다.

‘인천2호선 검단 연장’은 기획재정부의 예비타당성조사 결과에 따라 제4차 국가철도망구축계획에 반영된 ‘인천2호선 고양 연장’에 포함해 경기도와 공동으로 지난 달 16일 사전타당성조사 용역을 착수했다.

또한, ‘부평연안부두선’이 지난 해 11월 4일 사전타당성조사 용역에 착수했으며 ‘송도트램’은 2022년 상반기 중 용역을 착수할 예정이다.

류윤기 시 철도과장은 “인천 도시철도망구축계획에 따라 철도망 확충이 차질 없이 이뤄질 경우 철도의 수송 분담률이 13.5%에서 16.0%까지 증가하고 도심 어디서든 15분 이내 접근이 가능해 시민의 교통편익증진은 물론 원도심 활성화에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다”면서 “8개 노선이 계획대로 추진될 수 있도록 예비타당성조사 등 후속 행정절차 이행에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
