The route reflected in the change plan consists of 8 routes, including the extension of Incheon Line 2 Geomdan, Bupyeong Coastal Pier Line, Songdo Tram, Nonhyeon Extension of Incheon Line 2, Juan Songdo Line, Yeongjong Tram, Songdo Section 8 Extension of Incheon Line 1, and Jemulpo Coastal Pier Line. The project cost of 2.86 trillion won is planned to be invested in the construction of the 87.79km-long railway network.
This change plan reflects the results of a feasibility review conducted every five years according to Article 5 of the 'Urban Railroad Act' for the existing plan established in 2016. After applying for approval to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in December 2020, it was approved after reviewing the adequacy of specialized research institutes such as the Korea Railroad Research Institute, consultation with related administrative agencies, coordination and review by the Urban Transport Policy Working Committee, and deliberation by the National Transport Committee.
Among the eight routes, three lines, including the Incheon Line 2 Geomdan Extension, Bupyeong Coastal Pier Line, and Songdo Tram, plan to conduct a preliminary feasibility study service to apply for a preliminary feasibility study within this year.
