(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구가 20일 국가사적 제556호 ‘계양산성’의 국가지정문화재(사적) 지정 2주년과 전국 최초 산성박물관인 ‘계양산성박물관’의 개관 2주년을 맞이했다.

계양산성은 계양구 계산동에 있는 계양산 주봉(主峯)에서 동쪽으로 뻗어내린 봉우리에 자리한 삼국시대 유적으로 축성기술 변천을 알려주는 중요한 자료로 평가받고 있다.

이에 계양구는 지난 2003년부터 국·시비 포함 총 사업비 427억 원이 투입되는 계양산성 복원·정비사업을 수립하여 2035년까지 단계별로 복원·정비사업을 추진해오고 있다.

지난해 12월 성곽 복원과 관련된 각종 설계를 완료했으며 올해 본격적으로 국비를 지원받는 등 국·시비 21억 원을 확보하여 성곽 정비와 유구 정비사업을 추진하고 있다.

현재까지 총 11차례 발굴조사를 시행하여 치·성벽 일부 복원과 탐방로 조성을 완료했으며, 문화재청의 설계 승인을 앞두고 있다.

향후 성곽과 성내 시설 정비가 완료되면 문화재 활용을 위한 탐방체험 프로그램, 문화 예술행사 등을 추진할 계획이다.

계양산성 국가사적 지정 2주년과 함께 우리나라 최초의 산성 전문박물관인 계양 산성박물관도 개관 2주년을 맞았다.

코로나19 확산으로 임시 휴관과 단체관람 제한 등 어려운 여건 속에서도 관람객의 발걸음은 꾸준히 이어져 개관 이후 약 3만 5,000여 명이 박물관을 찾았다.

계양구는 전문적이고 체계적인 박물관 운영을 위하여 올해 계양문화원에 박물관 운영을 위탁했으며, 다양한 전시 관람, 교육 프로그램, 체험활동 등 내실 있는 운영을 통해 구민들의 문화체험 기회가 확대될 것으로 기대한다.

산성박물관에서는 우리나라의 산성 발달사와 계양산성의 유적과 유물을 정리하여 상설전시하고 있다.

특히, 1990년대 경명로 확장공사로 인해 인천 서구청이 수습해 보관해 오던 ‘중심성사적비 귀부’를 서구청과 협조하여 계양 산성박물관으로 이전해 보존처리를 마치고 올해 3월부터 실물로 전시·공개하고 있다.

박형우 계양구청장은 “체계적인 복원·정비사업을 통해 계양산성만의 역사·문화적 가치를 연구하고 계양산성의 옛 모습을 복원·정비하는데 지속적인 관심을 기울이겠다”며, “계양산성, 계양산성박물관, 부평향교, 부평도호부관아 등 계양구만의 다양한 문화재 자원을 보존하고 활용하여 구민의 문화적 자부심을 높이겠다”고 말했다.
