(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 산림청에서 주관하는 ‘미세먼지 차단 숲 조성사업’ 공모사업에 선정돼 국비 20억 원, 시비 10억을 확보했다.

남동구는 내년 1월부터 11월까지 제2경인고속도로와 3개의 아파트 단지 사이에 있는 서창2동 경관 6호 녹지(서창동 635,641번지)에 4ha 규모의 미세먼지 차단 숲을 조성할 계획이다.

사업대상지는 토질과 배수가 불량해 수목이 고사하거나 생육상태가 좋지 않아 지속적인 개선 요구가 제기돼 왔다.

남동구는 미세먼지 차단 숲 조성을 통해 그동안 문제가 됐던 토양 상태를 개선하고, 남동구의 대표적인 도시 숲으로 관리해 나갈 계획이다.

미세먼지 차단 숲은 고속도로 등에서 발생하는 유해 물질이 도심 생활권으로 확산하는 것을 방지하는 목적으로, 미세먼지 유입 최소화와 소음방지, 열섬 완화 등의 효과가 있다.
