(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 중부지방해양경찰청이 29일 37년 9개월 동안 우리나라의 바다를 하늘에서 지키던 인천회전익항공대 헬기 기장 권중철 경위(60세)가 지난 23일 마지막 고별 비행을 마쳤다고 밝혔다.

중부해경청에 따르면, 권 중철 경위는 부산에서 태어나 1985년 해군사관학교(39기)를 졸업하고 대한민국 해군에서 20년, 해양경찰에서 17년 등 총 37년 9개월 동안 헬기 조종사로 근무했다.

권 경위는 해양경찰과 해군에서 헬기 조종사로 일하면서 무사고 비행 5천 2백시간이라는 대기록을 작성하고, 오는 12월 말 젊음과 열정을 바친 해양경찰을 정년퇴직한다.

해군 항공대에서 소령으로 전역한 권 경위는 지난 2005년 해양경찰에 투신하여 해경헬기 조종사로 17년 동안 서해, 동해, 남해, 제주 등을 거치며 조국의 바다를 하늘에서 지켰다.
