(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 29일, 제2경인선 건설사업의 조속 추진을 촉구하기 위한 범구민 서명운동이 구민들의 간절한 염원 속에 당초 목표치를 초과 달성했다고 밝혔다.

남동구에 따르면 이번 서명운동은 10~11월 두 달간 15만 명 서명을 목표로 진행됐으며, 지난 21일 기준 19만 4천240명이 서명에 동참하며 목표를 조기 달성했다.

제2경인선 건설사업은 수도권 광역교통망에서 소외됐던 지역주민들의 교통 불편 해소는 물론 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 꼭 필요한 지역 숙원사업이다.

연수구와 합동 추진한 이번 서명운동에는 동 행정복지센터와 남동구청 홈페이지, SNS 등 온‧오프라인을 통해 많은 주민이 참여하며, 강력한 염원과 의지를 보였다.

남동구는 연수구와 함께 주민들의 염원을 담은 서명부를 국토교통부, 기획재정부에 12월 중 전달할 예정이다.

박종효 남동구청장은 “이번 서명운동은 제2경인선의 조속한 사업추진을 원하는 남동구민의 간절한 마음의 표현으로, 중앙부처에 구민의 염원을 전달해 제2경인선의 조속 추진을 강력히 촉구할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
