(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 국립인천대학교가 2일,  교육부가 선정하는 ‘학술연구지원사업 우수성과 50선’에 중국학술원에서 2건이 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 

인천대학교에 따르면, 이번 우수성과 50선에는 서울대가 7건, 성균관대・경희대가 각 4건, 고려대・경북대・경상국립대가 각 3건, 인천대・연세대・충북대가 각 2건 선정됐고, 그 외에는 한양대, 한국외대, 가톨릭대 등 20개 대학에서 각 1건씩 선정됐다. 

특히 인문사회・이공・한국학을 통틀어 선정되는 50개의 과제 중 두 건이 선정된 점은 인천대 중국학술원의 우수성을 보여준다. 

교육부 학술연구지원사업 ‘우수성과 50선’은 2006년부터 인문사회, 이공, 한국학 등 3개 분야별로 우수성과를 발표하고 있다. 

올해에는 2023년 학술연구지원사업 성과물 중 총 227건의 후보 과제가 접수됐고, 성과물의 독창성과 우수성, 학술적 기여도 등 평가를 거쳐 최종 50선이 선정됐다. 

국립인천대 장정아 교수는 “특화된 전문아카이빙과 세계적 확산체계 구축: 중국・화교화인 연구와 자료센터, 사회적 서비스, 국제 네트워킹의 결합”(인문한국플러스사업)으로, 정은주 교수는 “‘라코리아’의 한인들: 미 서부 한인 에스노버브에서 소수자 중 다수자로 살기”(한국학기획총서사업)로 우수성과에 선정됐다.

장정아 교수(중어중국학과)는 중국・화교문화연구소가 수행 중인 인문한국플러스사업의 책임자로서, 2023년 중국 거국체제와 문화유산의 관계에 대한 논문을 국제저명학술지(SSCI급)에 게재하며 연구성과를 국제적으로 확산했고, 국제학술협력에 기반하여 집필한 중국 국경지역 연구서 ‘국경 마을에서 본 국가’도 대한민국학술원 우수도서로 선정되는 등 국내외에서 학술성과가 높이 평가받고 있다. 

국립인천대 중국학술원 중국・화교문화연구소는 세계 최초 ‘한반도화교사전(이정희 책임집필・편집)’ 출간 등 특성화된 학술성과로 국제적 주목을 받고 있으며, 국내 최대 중국학자료센터를 구축하고 수요맞춤형 시민강좌・전시회 등 다양한 시민프로그램을 운영하며 지역사회에 기여하고 있다.

정은주 교수(중국학술원)는 한국연구재단의 한국학사업 지원으로 미국 내 한인 거주지에 대한 현장연구를 통해 거시적 변화와 사회경제적 특성 속에서 한인의 이민을 분석했으며, 한인이 집중된 교외 도시에 거주하는 한인들은 단순한 민족 프레임 등 하나의 틀로 바라볼 수 없는 복합성을 지닌다는 점을 보여주며 한인 내부의 다양성 형성을 밝혔다는 점에서 좋은 평가를 받았다. 

이러한 연구는 화교・화인과 비교연구가 가능하고 현대 이주연구의 지평을 확장하며, 정부의 다문화사회 정책 개발에서도 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

중국학술원장 장정아 교수는 “중국학술원은 다양한 분야의 전문가가 모여 융합연구를 수행하며 중국 본토뿐 아니라 홍콩・대만, 동남아, 전 세계 화교화인으로 확장된 연구를 한다는 강점을 가지고 있다”며 “격변하는 국제정세 속에서 정확하고 균형잡힌 자료와 정보를 제공하여 정책 개발 그리고 문화 간 갈등의 평화적 해결에 기여하고자 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Incheon National University Chinese Academy, 2 selected as 50 best academic research support projects by the Ministry of Education

Incheon National University announced on the 2nd that 2 projects from the Chinese Academy were selected as the ‘50 best academic research support projects’ by the Ministry of Education.

According to Incheon National University, 7 projects were selected from Seoul National University, 4 projects each from Sungkyunkwan University and Kyunghee University, 3 projects each from Korea University, Kyungpook National University, and Gyeongsang National University, and 2 projects each from Incheon National University, Yonsei University, and Chungbuk National University. In addition, 20 universities including Hanyang University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Catholic University of Korea were selected as 1 project each.

In particular, the fact that two out of 50 projects selected across humanities, social sciences, engineering, and Korean studies were selected demonstrates the excellence of Incheon National University’s Chinese Studies Institute.

The Ministry of Education’s Academic Research Support Project ‘50 Outstanding Achievements’ has been announcing outstanding achievements in three fields: humanities, social sciences, engineering, and Korean studies since 2006.

This year, a total of 227 candidate projects were received from the 2023 Academic Research Support Project results, and the final 50 were selected after evaluating the originality, excellence, and academic contribution of the results.

Professor Jang Jeong-ah of Incheon National University was selected for “Establishing a Specialized Professional Archiving and Global Diffusion System: Combining Chinese and Overseas Chinese Studies and Data Centers, Social Services, and International Networking” (Humanities Korea Plus Project), and Professor Jeong Eun-ju was selected for “Koreans in ‘La Korea’: Living as a Majority Among Minorities in the Western Korean Ethnoverb” (Korean Studies Planning Series Project).

Professor Jang Jeong-ah (Department of Chinese Language and Literature) is the person in charge of the Humanities Korea Plus Project being carried out by the China and Overseas Chinese Culture Research Institute. In 2023, she published a paper on the relationship between China’s national system and cultural heritage in an internationally renowned academic journal (SSCI-level), disseminating her research results internationally. Her book on China’s border region, “The Country Seen from a Border Village,” written based on international academic cooperation, was also selected as an excellent book by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Korea, and her academic achievements are highly regarded both domestically and internationally.

The China and Overseas Chinese Culture Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Studies at Incheon National University is receiving international attention for its specialized academic achievements, such as the publication of the world’s first “Dictionary of Overseas Chinese on the Korean Peninsula (written and edited by Lee Jeong-hee),” and is contributing to the local community by establishing the largest Chinese studies data center in Korea and operating various citizen programs such as customized citizen lectures and exhibitions.

Professor Jeong Eun-ju (Chinese Academy) analyzed Korean immigration in the context of macroscopic changes and socioeconomic characteristics through field research on Korean residences in the United States with the support of the Korean Studies Program of the National Research Foundation of Korea. She showed that Koreans living in suburban cities where Koreans are concentrated have complexities that cannot be viewed through a simple ethnic framework, and she was well-received for revealing the formation of diversity within Koreans.

This research is expected to enable comparative research with overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese, expand the horizon of modern migration research, and be utilized in the development of government multicultural society policies.

Professor Jang Jeong-ah, President of the Chinese Academy, said, “The Chinese Academy has the strength of conducting convergence research by bringing together experts from various fields and conducting research that extends to not only mainland China but also Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and overseas Chinese around the world.” She added, “We will do our best to provide accurate and balanced data and information in the midst of the rapidly changing international situation, contributing to policy development and peaceful resolution of intercultural conflicts.”
