(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 2일, 저출생‧고령화 대응을 위한 남동구의 노력이 또 한 번 높은 평가를 받았다고 밝혔다. 

남동구에 따르면, 구는 지난달 29일 부산에서 열린 2024 대한민국 도시대상 시상식에서 ‘인구 감소 대응’ 분야 장관상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.

대한민국 도시대상은 국토부가 전국 광역‧기초자치단체를 대상으로 도시의 지속가능성과 생활 인프라 수준을 평가‧시상하는 국내에서 가장 권위 있는 상이다. 

남동구는 인구 감소 대응을 위한 정책 추진이 모범 사례로 평가받으며, 인천 지자체 중에서는 유일하게 선정됐다.

특히, 저출생‧고령화 추세에 입체적인 방식으로 대응하며, 민관 협업체계 구축과 지역 현황 분석 등을 통해 대안을 제시하고 있는 점이 높이 평가됐다.

남동구는 ‘남동형 커뮤니티 케어’를 중심으로, 어르신들의 안정적인 노후를 위해 치매 스마트 큐어콜, 소규모 녹색정원 조성, 재가 지원 서비스 등 포괄적인 돌봄 시스템을 구축‧운영하고 있다.

또한, 산후 조리비 지원을 비롯해 생애 초기 건강관리사업, 어린이집 보육 교직원 처우개선 등을 추진하며 저출생 문제 해결에도 집중하고 있다.

이러한 노력을 통해 지난 8월에는 전국 기초단체장 매니페스토 우수 사례 경진대회에서 ‘인구 구조 변화 대응’ 분야 최우수상을 수상하기도 했다.

박종효 남동구청장은 “인구 구조 변화에 발맞춰 추진해 온 여러 정책이 좋은 평가를 받아 기쁘고 감사하다”며 “인구 감소는 국가의 지속가능성을 위협하는 심각한 문제로, 앞으로 지역의 다양한 이해관계자와 협력해 발 빠른 대응에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

Namdong-gu is evaluated as an exemplary case of policy implementation for responding to population decline, and was selected as the only local government in Incheon.

In particular, it was highly evaluated for responding to the low birth rate and aging trend in a three-dimensional manner, and presenting alternatives through establishing a public-private collaboration system and analyzing the local situation.
