(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 계양구선거관리위원회가 3일, 연말연시를 맞아 위법행위 예방·단속활동을 강화한다고 밝혔다.

계양구선거관리위원회에 따르면, 오는 2025년 3월 5일 실시하는 제1회 전국동시새마을금고이사장선거와 관련하여 선거인을 대상으로 하는 금품 제공 등 불법행위 발생을 우려하여 중대 위탁선거 범죄인 ‘돈 선거’ 단속에 총력을 집중한다는 방침이다.

또한, 입후보예정자·선거인 및 금고 임직원을 대상으로 위탁선거법 사전 안내와 예방활동을 전개하고, 사전 안내에도 불구하고 위법행위가 발생할 경우 철저히 조사하여 고발 등 엄중 조치할 예정이다. 

공공단체등 위탁선거에 관한 법률에서 금지하고 있는 주요 행위로는 후보자나 그 가족이 투표나 선거운동을 부탁하며 현금 또는 물품을 제공하는 행위, 당선 또는 낙선 목적으로 후보자, 그 배우자 또는 직계존비속이나 형제자매에 관한 허위의 사실을 공표하는 행위, 금고 임직원이 그 지위를 이용하여 선거운동을 하거나 선거운동의 기획에 참여하는 행위, 선거운동을 위해 선거인의 집 등을 호별로 방문하거나 특정 장소에 모이게 하는 행위 등이 있다. 

금전·물품이나 음식물을 제공받은 사람은 최고 3천만 원의 범위에서 제공받은 금액의 10배 이상 50배 이하 과태료가 부과될 수 있으므로 유의해야 한다. 

선거관리위원회는 자수한 사람에게는 과태료를 감경 또는 면제해주고, 위반행위 신고자에게는 최고 3억원까지 신고 포상금도 지급하니 적극적인 신고·제보를 당부했다.
