(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) ㈔세계여성평화그룹(IWPG)이 ‘제6주년 세계여성평화의 날’을 맞아 ‘여성, 세상에 필요한 평화를 이루다’라는 주제로 전 세계 40개국 70개 주요 도시에서 동시 기념행사를 개최했다. 

지난 4월 26일부터 이달 초까지 진행된 이번 기념행사에는 국내외 3500여 여성들이 참석해 평화 실현의 결의를 다졌다.

‘세계여성평화의 날’은 IWPG가 2019년 4월 26일 전쟁으로부터 귀중한 생명을 보호하고 후대에 평화를 유산으로 물려주자는 ‘전쟁종식 평화 실현’의 비전을 담아 선포한 날이다. 

유엔 경제사회이사회(ECOSOC) 및 글로벌소통국(DGC)에 등록된 IWPG는 대한민국에 본부를 두고 122개국 115개 지부, 66개국 800여개 협력단체와 함께 활동하고 있다.

◆국내외서 다채로운 평화 행사 열려..,

이번 기념식은 부산, 대전, 서울, 인천, 익산 등 국내 주요 도시를 비롯해 필리핀, 에티오피아, 호주, 레바논, 미국, 체코, 일본 등 전 세계 각지에서 다양한 형태로 진행됐다.

부산에서는 약 300명이 참석한 가운데 기념식이 열렸으며 대전에서는 약 110명이 모여 갑천 수변공원에서 기념식과 함께 플래시몹 및 평화 걷기대회를 진행했다. 

인천에서는 약 200명이 참석했으며 익산에서는 30여 명의 회원들이 서동공원에서 기념식과 체험 부스를 운영했다.

고양시에서는 임진각평화누리공원에서 고양, 서대문, 파주, 은평지부가 연합해 행사를 개최했다. 

서울에서도 도봉구 평화문화진지에서 기념행사가, 강남구 양재천에서 평화 캠페인이 성황리에 개최됐다.

필리핀에서는 4월 22일부터 27일까지 평화 파견단과 회원들이 참석한 가운데 제3호 IWPG 평화 활동 기념비 앞에서 기념식을 개최하고 현지 관계자들과 평화 협력 방안을 논의했다.

◆ 여성 평화 연대와 DPCW 지지 촉구

이번 행사에서 ‘지구촌 전쟁종식 평화 선언문(DPCW)’의 중요성을 알리고 법제화를 지지하는 활동이 이뤄졌다. 

DPCW는 전 세계 시민이 함께 만들어 가는 참여형 평화의 해답으로 전쟁을 근본적으로 차단하기 위한 실질적인 방안을 제시하고 있다.

또한 행사를 통해 여성들의 평화를 향한 결의를 다지고 평화 실현의 주체가 되는 여성의 역할을 강조했다. 

여성의 연대가 전쟁을 멈추고 분쟁 해결과 갈등 예방에 중요하며 여성의 공감과 돌봄의 능력이 평화 지속에 매우 중요하다는 메시지가 전달됐다.

이 외에도 태극기 바람개비, 부채 배포, 거리 홍보, 체험 부스 운영, 평화사랑 그림그리기 국제대회 수상작 전시회, 아로마 손마사지, 평화 퀴즈, 다육이 나눔, 소원 팔찌 만들기 등 시민들이 참여하고 즐길 수 있는 다채로운 행사가 마련됐다.

◆ 윤현숙 IWPG 대표 “여성이 평화 실현의 주체 돼야”

윤현숙 IWPG 대표는 기념사를 통해 “우리는 말로만 하는 평화가 아닌 진정한 평화가 필요하다”며 “여성, 평화, 안보에 관한 유엔 안보리 1325 결의안에서 말하듯 여성은 평화 실현의 주체가 돼야 하고 전쟁과 분쟁으로부터 보호받아야 한다”고 강조했다.

또한, “혼자서는 불가능한 일도, 여럿이 함께한다면 폭발적인 힘을 가질 수 있다”며 “여성평화교육을 통해 평화의 리더가 돼 지구촌 각지 여성과 연대해 전쟁과 폭력 피해자를 보호하고 DPCW가 국제사회 평화 질서로 확립될 수 있도록 IWPG와 함께해 달라”고 당부했다.
