(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 제37회 구민의 날을 기념하여 오는 19일부터 20일까지 이틀간 서구문화회관과 인천아시아드경기장에서 특별한 행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다. 

서구에 따르면, ‘함께 걸어온 길, 새롭게 나아갈 미래’라는 주제 아래 진행되는 이번 행사는 2026년 7월 행정체제 개편을 앞두고 64만 서구민의 마지막 구민의 날을 기념하며, 검단 지역의 서구 편입 이후 30년간의 역사를 되새기기 위해 마련됐다. 

이번 구민의 날 행사는 기존의 형식에서 벗어나 누구나 함께 즐길 수 있는 다채로운 문화·체육 행사로 펼쳐질 예정이다.

19일(1일차)에는 서구문화회관에서 구민의 날 기념식과 서곶문화예술제를 개최하고, 아라뱃길 북단 시천공원과 남단 시천나루에 새로운 서구와 검단구의 시작을 축하하는 소나무를 식수한다. 

구민의 날 기념식에서는 효행·봉사 등 8개 부문에서 선정된 구민상 수상자 10명을 시상할 예정이다.

20일(2일차)에는 아시아드경기장 및 남측광장에서 ‘오감과 육神이 깨어나는 新박한 축제’라는 주제로 주요행사인 오징어 게임을 테마로 한 ‘스포츠 체험마당’, ‘명랑운동회’ 및 ‘걷기대회’를 비롯하여 부대행사인 음식문화축제 맛자랑 멋자랑, 건강한마당, 청년의 날 기념식, 구민백일장, 서구문화박람회, 어디든 도서관, 찾아가는 우리동네 팝업놀이터 등 다채롭고 풍성한 행사가 펼쳐진다. 

구민의 날 피날레 축하공연에는 이찬원, 박정현, 한해, 하이키, 포르테나가 출연할 예정이다.

강범석 서구청장은 “지난 30년간 하나 된 서구로서의 마지막을 기념하고, 분구 이후에도 서로를 응원하며 새로운 미래를 향해 나아가는 계기를 마련하고자 준비한 행사”라며, “지난 8월 31일, 서구가 전국 자치구 중 인구수 1위를 달성하기도 해 더욱 뜻깊은 시간이 될 것 같다”고 전했다.
